We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Operating Room team in Columbus, NE for a contract position. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role requires clinical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and assess patients for surgery, ensuring all necessary paperwork, tests, and consents are completed.
- Assist the surgical team in the operating room by providing sterile technique and maintaining a safe environment.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, oxygen levels, and other health indicators during surgery.
- Administer medications, anesthesia, and other treatments as prescribed by the physician.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective care during procedures.
- Provide postoperative care, including monitoring recovery, providing pain management, and educating patients on recovery expectations.
- Document patient care and surgical outcomes in the medical record in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure all operating room equipment and supplies are sterilized, functional, and ready for use.
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nebraska.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an operating room setting (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required based on specialty area.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and work as part of a collaborative team.
