Industrial/Manufacturing Painter - 2nd Shift

Overview
We are seeking an industrial Painter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial painting and a strong understanding of various painting techniques and materials. This role requires precision and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced machine shop environment. The Painter will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paint, and ensuring high-quality finishes on custom welded hydraulic cylinders.

Duties

• Prepares hydraulic cylinders and related components for painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking as needed.
• Applies primer, paint, and finishing coats to hydraulic cylinders using various painting techniques (e.g., spray painting, brush painting).
• Ensures proper mixing and application of paint to achieve the desired finish and durability.
• Inspects painted surfaces for defects and make necessary touch-ups or corrections.
• Counts, measures, and weighs hydraulic cylinders. Notifies the team lead of defective products or materials.
• Packs shipments following a specific set of instructions. Stacks cylinders onto skids in a manner not to damage the cylinder. Examine skids for quality control and ensure packaging requirements are met.
• Verifies the count on shipments and moves completed packaging for loading via a lift truck.
• Maintains and cleans painting equipment and workspace to ensure safe and efficient operation and ventilation.
• Follows safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Collaborates with the team lead and production team to meet schedule deadlines and quality standards. Keeps up with any changes to the schedule and communications downstream, sideways, and upstream as necessary.
• Manages the paint/solvent waste by product in accordance with all local and other requirements.
• May aid in the training of other team members.
• Unloads materials from incoming vehicles and stacks them to assigned places.
• Keeps accurate records of work performed and materials used.
• Assists the team lead where improvement or help is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial painting or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with various painting techniques and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and practices related to painting.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Forklift certification required (on the job training is provided).
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Machine shop environment which includes exposure to paint fumes, moving parts, noise, dust, industrial solvents, liquids, and other materials. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and wearing the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary to comply with company safety policies (air supplied respirator). This position requires walking, standing, bending, lifting, twisting, and gripping.

Hours and Benefits

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
