Materials/Purchasing Manager

Aurelius Manufacturing, Inc. is accepting applications for a Materials Manager to join our first shift:

The Materials Manager is responsible for developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities and controlling inventory levels. This position reports to the Operations Manager and has supervisory responsibility for the purchasing team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement materials management strategies, policies, and procedures to support production requirements and optimize material flow.
• Lead the purchasing team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective team performance.
• Implement and maintain inventory control systems to track material movements, identify demands, and ensure accuracy of inventory quantities and records.
• Analyze order and bid documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor and analyze material costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to reduce material expenses.
• Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships, including negotiating and renegotiating contracts, pricing agreements, and delivery schedules.
• Manage and maintain the supplier database, purchase records and all associated documentation.
• Research and analyze vendors, focusing on quality assurance, timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory adherence.
• Work with the Quality Team to maintain the quality of procured items and to troubleshoot any related problems.
• Anticipate and address potential delays or issues to ensure timely delivery and quality of orders.
• Place, review and process purchase orders to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Actively seek to improve processes and find better ways to work, contributing to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Additional responsibilities and miscellaneous tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience of at least three years in materials management and purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office suite.
• Ability to embrace and demonstrate the company’s values of respect, integrity, hard work, safety, and teamwork in all interactions and activities.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Manufacturing office setting which includes occasional exposure to dust and noise. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and wearing the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary to comply with company safety policies. This position requires walking, standing, bending, lifting, twisting, and gripping.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
