ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for Fiber Network testing, maintenance, turnup, splicing on backbone fiber network and business customers statewide.
- Strong knowledge of fiber installation, splicing, and troubleshooting with OTDR
- Routine maintenance on Fiber Optic Terminal Equipment
- Installation of multiple types of fiber equipment
- Maintain remote POP locations: audit records, battery plant, A/C units, and generators
- Individuals will be on-call on a rotating schedule
- Some overtime is required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with good driving record.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Occasional overnight maintenance
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Two-year technical degree; or
- Five years technical, military training or telephone experience
- Experience with fiber splicing required
- Installation of Fiber Optics cable, optical equipment, or outside plant maintenance experience
- Strong knowledge of fiber installation, splicing and troubleshooting with OTDR
- Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, employees, superiors, and business contacts in a professional, timely and courteous manner.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice
- Must be able to work independently with little or no direct supervision and contribute to a team environment.
- Ability to make sound decisions using the information at hand
- Strong trouble resolution and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of personal computer applications Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Outlook
- Outdoor and indoor work.
- Travel required
- Ability to lift 75lbs
