Systems Safety Engineer

Auria is looking to hire a Systems Safety Engineer (Global Systems) to support the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program. The primary work location can be in either Colorado Springs, CO or Huntsville, AL.

The successful candidate will be part of an integrated team tasked with defining the physical, functional, and technical architecture necessary to describe the desired capabilities of an evolving BMDS Battle Management, Command and Control, and Communications effort. The team will also communicate the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.

Essential Functions:

• System Engineering background with a specialization in System and Software Safety
• Integral to the team, defining the architecture necessary to achieve desired system capabilities
• Experience generating responsibility sections of capability specifications and training less experienced personnel
• Reviewing technical product content and acting as a technical interface to MDA counterparts as required
• System Safety engineering and the development of program safety plans, applying safety policies and guidance
• Providing support to MDA and other program personnel and other systems engineering tasks as needed
• Ensuring high-quality products are generated on time and within the resources available
  
  
  

Basic Qualifications:

Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

• An active Secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
• 9 years' experience with a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field; 7 years' experience with a master's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field
• Thorough understanding of system safety engineering practices
• Skills required include identification and definition of desired capabilities
• Modeling the interrelationships between internal and external system components
• Communicating desired capabilities to developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and end-users
• Generation of system/element level functional, performance, and interface specifications
• Support Global System Safety Requirements Analysis and customer coordination for safety impact and safety criticality
• Heavily involved in the Integration & Testing (I&T) process, ensuring all Safety Critical DTAPS stay on schedule
• Provide support for both the internal C2BMC Safety Team and the customer during BCQS reviews
• Integrating the product lines (BM, C2, Networks), generating responsible sections of the capability specifications, training less experienced personnel in SE and Safety techniques, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and acting as a technical interface to MDA working-level counterparts on an as-required basis
• Independent completion of safety analyses, including preliminary hazard analysis (PHA and subsystem hazard analysis (SSHA), and support for incorporating updates into existing safety analysis reports (SARs)
• Regular travel between Colorado Springs and Huntsville is required

Salary Range:The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level ($124,000- $140,000).
