With U.S.-based operational headquarters in Southfield, Michigan, Auria operates 16 manufacturing, 9 technical and 5 JV locations across 10 countries and employs approximately 3,900 people worldwide. We are currently searching for a Manager, Tax to join our team at our NA Corporate office located in Southfield, MI. Purpose / Scope: The Manager, Tax will oversee and manage the company’s tax compliance, planning and strategy for federal, state and local taxes. This role involves working with corporate and/or plants on financial data requirements and issues. Position Responsibilities:- Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state and local tax returns including all related analysis and support, working with external advisors
- Responsible for property tax function including preparation and maintenance of support files, working with external advisors
- Represent the company in tax audits and disputes, working with external advisors as needed
- Responsible for accounting for income taxes in the US
- Analyze and interpret tax regulations and legislation to provide guidance and recommendations to senior management
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance
- Maintain effective controls procedures over all aspects of the tax process
- Find and implement opportunities for process improvements in company tax procedures
- Provide input into strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility
- Operate with minimal supervision in a complex environment
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Education and Experience:
Competencies:- Regarded as the technical expert in US tax concepts. Shows in-depth and/or breadth of expertise in their field and broad knowledge of other disciplines within the function.
- Leads projects with notable risk and complexity; develops the strategy for project execution. Manage external tax advisors and sets priorities.
- Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business: Shows conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions.
- Impacts the direction and resource allocation for projects or services; works with general functional policies and industry guidelines.
- Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often senior levels, to adopt a different point of view.
Experience:
- 8 years tax experience in Public Accounting or Multinational Environment
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field: CPA/MST preferred
Requirements:
Travel
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to the North American plants
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in front of a computer screen 8 hours or more per day
