SALARY RANGE: $94,000 to $107,000. The midpoint of the range is $100,000. The ideal candidate would be hired at or around the midpoint.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Aurion Biotech is seeking a highly motivated Scientist I, Cell Therapy Process Development to join our team in Cambridge, MA. This is a newly created role at Aurion Biotech. It is a unique and exciting opportunity to join a growing team of passionate professionals at the forefront of Cell Therapy and cornea care innovation. As a Scientist I, Cell Therapy Process Development, you will play a critical role in accomplishing this mission and in staging Aurion’s Biotech novel Cell Therapy treatment for successful launch in the United States.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Scientist I, Cell Therapy Process Development position plays a key role in implementing, optimizing, and supporting late-stage CMC activities related to the development of cellular therapies involving primary cells. We are seeking an individual with deep technical experience and drive to work effectively with both internal and external partners in a highly matrixed and cross-functional organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works on development and refining the cell production process in preparation to Phase 3 and process characterization
- Supports technology transfers, regulatory filings, compiles and maintains data as required
- Participates in internal and external collaborations to evaluate and implement new process technologie
- Participates in project and team meetings to provide updates and enable data-driven decisions
- Maintains up to date knowledge of cell therapy manufacturing trends and provides recommendations regarding manufacturing process improvement initiatives
- Works collaboratively and cross-functionally to support and implement activities to ensure the project milestones are met
- Complies with all applicable laws and Company policies regarding health, safety, and environment
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

- A PhD with 1 years of industry experience, Master’s degree with 2 years of industry experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of industry experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated hand-on working knowledge of primary cell culture; primary adherent cell culture a plus
- Demonstrated experience in cell therapy process development
- Skilled in characterization and analytics of cell therapy products, including automatic cell counts and flow cytometry
- cGMP experience desired but not required
- Demonstrated experience working with interdisciplinary and cross-cultural teams
- Working knowledge of Quality by Design principles (QbD)
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience of scientists
- Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to rapid changes, and work in a fast-paced team environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and with other team members
