Sanitation Supervisor
Purpose :
This position is responsible for overwide plant sanitation. Responsible for plant Sanitation SOP development, employee training, monitoring, and reporting of all plant cleaning activities. This position is also responsible for conducting sanitation system audits, MSS development and completion, Environmental Monitoring Program, Plant Pest Control and MVP1 effectiveness.
- Essential Responsibilities;
- All plant personnel have the responsibility to monitor and report any deviations from our Food Safety and Food Quality (HACCP & SQF) programs to your immediate supervisor.
- Responsible for leading investigation in contamination (Epic related) quality issues.
- Responsible for overseeing plant daily sanitation operations.
- Ownership for the development, oversight and follow through of the master sanitation schedule.
- Audit sanitation schedule, and work with plant auditor on production sanitation audits to improve sanitation practices throughout the production department.
- Oversee sanitary PM schedule and coordinate with maintenance planner for required parts.
- Responsible for partnering with Production and Quality Teams and lead efforts with cleaning processes (flip days) to ensure proper execution and minimizing downtime. Includes tracking results, reporting in KPI and continuous improvement.
- Partner with maintenance and processing team on PM program related targeting gaskets and valves.
- Critical role related to Safety for the site, leading training related to PPE and proper chemical handling. (This person should work closely with the Safety Manager).
- Responsible for development and training with SSOPS / SOPs. Oversee annual training and document control.
- Manage the site's pre-operational inspection program and training team members performing inspections.
- Manage the site's Food Safety Environmental Monitoring Program. Responsible for corrective actions as well as trending and reporting.
- The site Sanitation Supervisor will play a critical role in SQF audits.
- Partner with Quality and Plant Leadership on managing chemical supply program, working with third party chemical suppliers, and managing cost and training.
- Attend Ecolab College and ongoing cleaning education.
- Oversee the site's pest control program.
- Ownership of various SQF required programs as part of audit preparation.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends as needed.
- SQF Support - Responsible for development, training, implementation, and compliance to the SQF program.
- Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
- Knowledge and Experience;
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Engineering or Business preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years professional experience as a supervisor.
- Prefer experience in UHT or UP dairy products.
- Experience implementing / exposure to World Class Manufacturing, TPM and / or Lean philosophies.
- Working knowledge of Dairy Processing and Cleaning, UP / UHT, regulatory and organic sanitary requirements and practices.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for food processing, dairy preferred.
- Knowledge of Organic Standards for food processing.
- Detail oriented, team member, team leader and experienced in team problem solving.
- Strong, honest work ethic with ability to handle multiple tasks daily.
- Ability to provide organization to all plant activities.
- Ability to identify the right problem and develop correction action.
- Strong understanding and experience in the production process from receiving to packaging
Physical Requirements :
Must possess the physical ability to work the entire shift on the plant floor working in a cool, wet environment with temperatures ranging between 34-38 degrees will be a requirement. Standing, walking, climbing, repetitive bending, repetitive stooping, repetitive reaching with arms and repetitive grasping with hands and fingers. Must have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment working around production machines, warehouse equipment, forklifts, large trucks, and tankers.
