The Aurora R-VIII School District is currently accepting applications for the position of Head Varsity Wrestling Coach at Aurora High School for the 2025-2026 school year. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead a growing wrestling program and lay the foundation for long-term success.
Aurora High School is looking for a coach who is passionate about developing student-athletes both on and off the mat. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to academic achievement, character development, and sportsmanship. Prior coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level is preferred, and candidates should have a solid understanding of MSHSAA rules and the ability to build a comprehensive program from the ground up.
The Head Varsity Wrestling Coach will be responsible for overseeing all levels of the wrestling program, including varsity, junior varsity, and freshman if applicable. Duties include planning and conducting practices, developing effective match strategies, mentoring student-athletes, monitoring academic performance, managing program equipment and fundraising, and promoting a positive team culture. Collaboration with school administration, faculty, and the local community will be essential to the success of the program.
Aurora R-VIII operates on a four-day school week (Monday through Thursday) and provides a competitive salary and benefits package, including a Board-paid health insurance stipend and paid sick/personal leave days. Salary will be based on years of experience and level of education as outlined in the district’s salary schedule and personnel guide, available at www.aurorar8.org.
