What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Forensic Investigator position at Aurora Illinois?
The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Digital Forensic Investigator in the Police Department.
Under the supervision of the Investigations Lieutenant, the Digital Forensic Investigator supports numerous criminal investigations by performing comprehensive forensic examinations of digital evidence.
The duties of this position include but are not limited to : Recovering forensic digital evidence from multimedia devices; Conducting forensic analysis of digital evidence; Interpreting evidence and effectively completing comprehensive and detailed written reports on findings; Provide expert testimony in criminal court proceedings as required; Ensure industry standard compliance for proper collection, preservation, packaging, and submission of digital evidence; Provide training on cyber investigative methodologies and digital evidence related topics; Other duties related to the position as assigned.
This position requires Cellebrite certification and a minimum of one (1) year of technical training and / or work experience in digital forensics. Experience in law enforcement and a bachelor's degree in a related field are preferred. Must have the ability to qualify as a Computer Forensic Expert Witness in court. Must possess strong computer skills in Microsoft and Apple products, and strong technical knowledge of cell phone forensic mapping and analytical software. Requires possession of a valid driver's license.
Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a polygraph test, physical, drug screen, and background check.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The annual salary range is $96,761.60 - $130,020.80 with starting rate dependent on experience and qualifications, but in most cases is no higher than the midpoint of the range.
