Job Title : Registered Nurse - Float Pool

Job Specialty : Nursing - Medical Center

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 12-hour Day Shift (36 hours per week)

Guaranteed Hours : Information not provided

Experience : 1 year

License : Registered Nurse (RN)

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIH

Must-Have :

  • Good general med / surg skillset
  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Drain management (JP, hemovac)
  • NGT placement and management
  • Central line management (PICC)
  • CBI, dressing changes, wound care, wound vac
  • Telemetry experience required

Job Description :

  • Float to different MS units throughout the hospital
  • Work within various departments such as General Surgical, Cardiac Neuro, Oncology, Orthopedic, Cardiac Telemetry, Surgical Surge Units, and ED Holding
  • Do not handle ICU patients or manage ventilated patients
  • Primary tasks include delivering high-quality patient care, performing various medical procedures, and interpreting cardiac rhythms
  • Support the team under the guidance of Charge Nurse
  • Work closely with hospitalists, phlebotomists, and other healthcare staff
  • Use charting systems such as EPIC, Alaris, and Pyxis
  • Participate in weekend rotations every other week and fulfill holiday expectations as per schedule
  • Dress code : Any scrub color approved except camo, denim, or clothing with logos

    • Other Notes :

  • Enjoy support from a Charge Nurse who also takes patient assignments. The unit is also supported by a unit secretary during daytime hours and 24 / 7 respiratory therapist availability.
  • Expect a 6-week schedule release every 1-2 weeks prior to starting, with no on-call duties.
  • When floating beyond the scope of practice (e.g., ICU), the RN provides non-assignable support tasks.
