The Adult Education Program at Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) empowers immigrants, refugees, non-native English speakers, and others by helping them gain skills for self-sufficiency in their community. We are hiring a Family Literacy Coordinator to supervise daily operations, support program strategy alongside the Adult Education Manager, and lead a dedicated work group. Our Adult Education services have benefited thousands, guiding adult students in learning English, preparing for the GED, applying for citizenship, and adjusting to the workforce. We foster an inclusive learning environment for all adult learners, regardless of language, background, or immigration status, and offer a wide array of services, including workforce training, tutoring, and support from our Wraparound Services Program, Victim Assistance Department, and Behavioral Healthcare Clinic. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, resourceful leader with experience in adult education and a passion for serving immigrant and refugee communities. Familiarity with internet-based programs and the ability to deliver dynamic online instruction are essential for success in this role.
Schedule. This position is fully Onsite/In-person. The schedule is Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.
Salary for this role. Starting wage is based on experience and company equity. Paid bi-weekly.
- $24.10 - $36.15 per hour
Bilingual Language Differential Pay. *rate depends on language requirements for the position and the candidate's fluency.

Employees will receive scheduled earnings on a bi-weekly basis, equivalent to 5% of their regular base rate (hourly or salaried), with a maximum amount of $3,000.00 per calendar year. The annual maximum amount will be prorated based on full-time equivalency (FTE).
Essential Functions:
- Develop, implement, coordinate and support learning and development initiatives for the Adult Education Program.
- Work with instructors to design instructional modules, sessions and materials with consideration for varied learning styles.
- Utilize and review various instructional delivery technologies.
- Organize department-wide training for instructors as needed, in classroom settings and online delivery formats.
- Assess and report local program performance.
- Gather data regarding teacher and student needs. Conduct outreach and assist with registration and testing.
- As needed, teach engaging and student-centered group classes, which may include job skills/workforce curriculum and College and Career Readiness Standards.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Required: Bachelor's degree (preferred in a related field)
- Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA), or willingness to obtain within 3 years of hire.
- Minimum of two years teaching experience with emphasis on adult education.
- Previous experience teaching or training adults in a classroom or in a virtual environment.
- Experience teaching multi-level and multi-cultural classes
- Experience developing and delivering contextualized ESL instruction and/or integrated education and training
Required Vaccination and TB Test.
