Description

Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a dedicated and resourceful Housing Navigator to support individuals and families in securing stable housing. This role is essential in providing case management services for Pathways to Home clients, offering housing navigation, landlord advocacy, and voucher administration to ensure long-term housing success. The Housing Navigator will guide clients through complex eligibility processes, collaborate with HUD and external partners, and ensure compliance with program guidelines. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, knowledge of housing assistance programs (ESG, SHV, PSH), and familiarity with low-income housing tax credit properties and systems such as Elite, EIV, and FHA.

Schedule. This position is fully Onsite/In-person. We offer flexible work arrangements, either a 5 x 8-hour workweek (Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm) or a 4 x 10-hour workweek (8:00 am - 6:30 pm), and a day off during the week can be Tuesday or Thursday. This schedule may be adjusted based on client and community needs. 

 

Term-Limited Position. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible role funded by the PATH grant, with an expected end date of December 31, 2025. However, this grant has historically been extended, and the position typically continues with the incumbent as long as funding is renewed.

 

Salary for this role. The starting wage is based on experience and company equity. Paid bi-weekly. 

  • $20.93 – $31.37 per hour

 

Bilingual Language Differential Pay. *rate depends on language requirements for the position and the candidate's fluency. 

  • Employees will receive scheduled earnings on a bi-weekly basis, equivalent to 5% of their regular base rate (hourly or salaried), with a maximum amount of $3,000.00 per calendar year. The annual maximum amount will be prorated based on full-time equivalency (FTE). 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Completes billable services for case management tasks, including:
    • Help clients in meeting basic needs for food, clothing, shelter, personal safety, and general health care, and assist them with applications for income, medical, housing, or other benefits which they may need and to which they are entitled.
    • Ensure clients' access to needed services and community resources by arranging for transportation.
    • Provide comprehensive psychosocial services designed to improve or maintain clients’ abilities to function effectively.
    • Help clients evaluate strengths and symptoms and facilitate in clients setting their own goals and plan for appropriate services.
    • Guide and instruct clients in daily living skills such as medication use, diet, exercise, personal hygiene, shopping, cooking, budgeting, housekeeping, use of transportation and other community services.
    • Help clients develop social skills, interests, and leisure time activities, including opportunities for age-appropriate activities.
    • Help clients find and make use of appropriate employment opportunities, vocational rehabilitation services or supported work environments where appropriate.
    • Offer support, assistance, consultation and education to families, friends, landlords, employers, community agencies and others who come into contact with clients, in order to maximize benefits and minimize problems associated with the presence of these persons in the community.
    • Identify, work with, and make full utilization of potential natural support systems such as neighborhood networks, churches, and community organizations to encourage treatment program engagement.
    • Reach out to eligible clients, inform them of and educate them about available services and in the community.
  • Housing/Voucher functions:
    • Management and Occupancy Reviews (MOR)
    • Navigate FHA software-entering actions/manual adjustments when needed.
    • Submitting HAP vouchers to CHFA and making any adjustments requested
    • Review the A/R aging-to make sure rents are being paid and tenants are being charge correctly as per the HAP Vouchers
    • Send out paperwork for all actions-per HUD guidelines.
    • Participate in REAC Inspections and close out any findings
    • Submit contract renewals-yearly
    • Submit HQS paperwork as per HUD guidelines
    • Perform Landlord duties
    • Submit Reserve for Replacement requests
    • Ensure that all tenants are following the rules-following up with violations of HUD, house rules or lease violations.
    • Supports landlord recruitment processes

Qualifications


Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor’s level degree in psychology, social work, or other related human services degree. With bachelor's Degree in unrelated field, one (1) year of behavioral health experience is required.
  • Preferred: One (1) year of relevant work experience, HUD and/or voucher experience
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License with a driving record that meets organization's requirements.
  • Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Basic understanding and ability to work with differing behavioral health presentations.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

 

Required Vaccination and TB Test. 

At AMHR the health and safety of our clients and staff are our top priorities. As part of this commitment, all employees are required to receive an annual influenza (flu) shot and present a negative TB test result before their first day of work. Proof of both the flu shot and negative TB test must be provided on your first day of employment. Medical and religious exemptions can be requested if necessary.
