Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a Master's in Counseling or Psychology Student Intern to join our Older Adult Team and provide specialized mental health services to clients aged 55 and older. Interns will engage in a variety of roles, including providing individual, group, and couples therapy, participating in professional development opportunities, and attending team meetings. This internship offers hands-on experience in outpatient counseling as well as services delivered at nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Interns will receive weekly individual supervision, training in cognitive screening techniques, and skills in therapy, crisis management, and modalities tailored to older adults. Accepting applications for Master’s-level Student Interns for May 2025 and after start dates. The internship can range from 9 months to 1 year, with flexibility to accommodate individual needs.
Schedule. The internship requires a commitment of 16-20 hours per week during Weekdays, Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM and allows a hybrid schedule working partially remotely.
About you.
- Master's Level Student working towards a degree in Counseling or Psychology. 2nd year students preferred.
- Our ideal candidate for this position would be energetic and passionate about working with older adults and learning innovative treatment approaches for older adults in an outpatient and outreach model.

Qualifications
Required Vaccination and TB Test.
At AMHR the health and safety of our clients and staff are our top priorities. As part of this commitment, all employees are required to receive an annual influenza (flu) shot and present a negative TB test result before their first day of work. Proof of both the flu shot and negative TB test must be provided on your first day of employment. Medical and religious exemptions can be requested if necessary.
