Welcome to Aurora – Oakwood Dairy! We’re hiring a Farm Equipment Operator to join our team in Auburn, NY (about 30 miles southwest of Syracuse). In this role you will be operating and maintaining various farm equipment used in crop production and manure handling on our dairy farm.
We are a large-scale dairy farm located in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. Our farm is home to 2,200 mature cows and 1,800 heifers, all raised on a single site. We operate on 3,400 acres, where we grow forage and grains for our herd. Our operation includes 1,800 acres of corn, 1,000 acres of alfalfa, 385 acres of grass, and 200 acres of wheat. We pride ourselves on a reliable, dedicated, and motivated workforce that strives for continuous improvement.
We offer competitive compensation of $25 - $30 per hour depending on experience, overtime pay, health insurance, paid vacation, and 401(k) retirement.
What you will be doing:
Operate and maintain farm equipment for crop production, including a 16-row John Deere corn planter and a 30' John Deere drill for seeding alfalfa and wheat.
Apply manure using a dragline system.
Operate hay mergers, hay mowers, and assist with bunk pushing and packing.
Maintain and service all equipment used in cropping and dairy operations as needed.
Assist with other general farm operations and tasks as required.
Ensure all equipment is kept in good working condition and assist with repairs as necessary.
This job is for you if you have:
Experience operating and maintaining farming equipment, including corn planters, grain drills, hay mergers, hay mowers, and dragline manure systems.
Prior experience with truck driving is preferred (Class A or F endorsement to drive farm trucks, or ability to obtain).
New York pesticide applicator license (or willingness to obtain).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work long hours, with overtime.
