Bonjour! Aurore French Bakery brings authentic French pastries, breads, and café culture to Bozeman. We opened our storefront in May 2023 after years of growing through farmers markets and events. We’re expanding our production team and looking for a hardworking, high-energy Assistant Baker to join us and grow with the business.
Our team includes a bread baker, pastry chef, assistant baker, tourier (croissant baker), baristas/cashiers, assistant manager, and manager.
About the Role: This is a hands-on, fast-paced, and physically demanding role. You’ll be making hot and cold baguette sandwiches, you will be making sauces and coulis, work closely with our croissant and pastry teams, prep ingredients, clean constantly, and help make sure the kitchen and front-of-house are running smoothly. No day is the same — and there’s always something to do.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with laminated doughs: mixing, rolling, shaping, proofing, and baking croissants
- Prepping fillings and sauces: crème pâtissière, apple compote, lemon curd, strawberry coulis, cinnamon icing, etc.
- Making French-style sandwiches including Croque-Monsieur with béchamel and sourdough, and French baguette sandwiches.
- Keeping the kitchen and front areas clean and organized: dishes, floor, tables, to-go containers
- Refilling display cases and restocking bakery packaging and supplies
- Occasionally brainstorming new recipes or contributing to production improvements
- Estimating supply and ingredient needs
- Following food safety and cleanliness standards
Schedule:
- Wednesday: 6:00 AM to ~1:00 PM
- Thursday to Sunday: 4:00 AM to ~11:00 AM
- Full-time, year-round (not seasonal)
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience as a baker or cook is helpful but not required
- High energy and physically strong (able to lift up to 55 lbs)
- Reliable, punctual, and focused
- Coachable and open to feedback
- Able to multitask and work well under pressure
- Comfortable working on your feet for long hours
- Curious about French baking and culture
Not a fit if you:
- Prefer a slow pace or don’t like physical work
- Can’t commit to weekends or early mornings
- Struggle with structure or teamwork
- Are not open to learning or adapting
- Aren’t looking for a long-term role
