Description The Senior Personal Care Scientist will lead formulation and application development in support of a variety of products in Personal and Home Care applications This role will work closely with customers to accelerate adoption of ingredients in the Aurorium Care Portfolio into new and existing formulations.

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Lead formulation prototype efforts and technical studies of Aurorium Care products in a variety of prototype applications to understand and develop methods of use and value propositions for customer needs.
• Explore, identify, and understand customer needs, and assist customers in applying and qualifying Aurorium Care products in their applications/formulations.
• Translate customer requirements into technical work plans and develop products as needed for achieving growth.
• Determine technical and commercial feasibility of potential new materials or formulations.
• Keep abreast of trends in the cosmetic and consumer science industries and communicate opportunities and threats to the rest of organization.
• Convert technical information into appropriate language and level for external and internal technical and commercial audiences – present material as required.
• Work directly with customers to advance evaluations, trials and commercialization activities.
• Serve as a project manager as well as participate as a team member on market driven growth programs and customer specific projects working closely with Marketing and Sales.
• Become an active member of the global technology group and provide expertise, consultation, and recommendations as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• B.S. in chemical or biological science with a focus on applicable benefits
• Minimum of 5 years experience in hands-on formulation and/or application development across a range of personal care and homecare applications such as skincare, color cosmetics, hair care, hard surface cleaning, laundry, etc., including use of various raw material ingredients and formulation/product types.
• Experience working directly with external customers to solve customer problems and identifying growth opportunities.
• Strong working knowledge of preservation, microbiology, toxicology and regulatory factors in developing consumer products.
• Previous technical contacts within the industrial and professional society communities to foster learning and to accelerate potential new business opportunities.
• Demonstrated strong communication, creativity, and innovation along with project/program management and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated comfort and effectiveness with customer inquiries and in face to face meetings with customers. Effective customer interactions is essential.
• Capable of providing efficient customer service and technical support for sales and business development activities.
• Capable of working in a cross-functional organization with demonstration of positive collaboration, team building skills and project leadership skills.
• Ability to travel up to 50%
• Proficiency in Microsoft office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, etc.
