Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Terminal Operations Specialist to ensure the safety, security, and efficiency of airport operations. This role involves monitoring airport activities, enforcing regulations, responding to emergencies, and providing exceptional customer service to passengers, employees, and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a visible and active presence in assigned areas ensuring compliance with safety and security procedures.
- Respond immediately to security breaches, alarm violations, and emergency situations, including medical incidents, fire, hazardous material spills, disturbances, aircraft alerts, and other operational disruptions.
- Inspect airport facilities and equipment daily to ensure safe operating conditions, submitting work orders or initiating corrective action as needed.
- Enforce federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances by issuing citations, warnings, and notices of violation.
- Utilize security tools, surveillance systems, and reporting platforms (such as ASOCS) to identify and mitigate potential threats.
- Establish and coordinate Incident Command Post (ICP) operations when necessary during emergency response situations.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, including interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence, and preparing detailed reports.
- Provide exceptional customer service to travelers, airport employees, government agencies, and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant experience in airport operations, military, or security related fields preferred.
- Strong knowledge of safety, security, and emergency response procedures.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse groups, including passengers, employees, and government agencies.
- Proficiency in incident reporting systems and security monitoring tools.
- Strong report writing skills for documenting incidents accurately, clearly, and professionally, ensuring that all details are precise, well-organized, and easily understood by stakeholders.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as airport operations run 24/7.
