Austin Bridge & Road has an outstanding opportunity for a Survey Party Chief based at our regional headquarters in San Antonio, Texas.
The Survey Party Chief will perform surveys for one or more projects in the South Texas region covering the San Antonio area and surrounding cities. General responsibilities :
- Field Surveying
- Review and interpret construction drawings and blueprints
- Construction layout and verification Responsibilities :
- Check and perform some calculations Calculate accurately Check tie-in locations Disseminate information properly to Survey Manager
- Perform survey layout on projects Perform accurate layout Check and maintain accurate control Perform timely layout Clearly communicate survey layout
- Adhere to standardized procedures and processes Surveys performed according to the practices and procedures defined by the Survey Department.
- Communicate with Party Chiefs, Survey Manager, and Field Crews Communicate completion of tasks to Survey Manager Communicate to the Survey Manager the field issues and / or concerns Properly document survey layout being performed
- Maintain equipment Keep equipment clean and well maintained Make sure equipment is calibrated
- Establishes benchmarks, monuments, centerlines, grade traverses, slopes and other reference points which are essential for correct installation or construction.
- Assists craft supervision, as required, in the review and proper interpretation of construction plans and drawings.
- Makes a final check of all work layout to insure proper adherence to references given, both by survey and by technical drawings.
- Supervises the field adjustment and calibration of survey equipment.
- Makes calculations and sets up field survey books that can be used by outside parties to accomplish layout work.
- Uses survey instruments to accomplish tasks.
- Conducts Tool Box Safety Meetings, enforces all safety regulations, and to be constantly alert to all safety conditions (good and bad).
- Conducts on-the-job training for qualified personnel and records and reports hours on Foreman’s Daily Control.
