What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Director, Talent Management and Operations position at Austin Centers for Exceptional Students?
The HR Director provides professional level support and works in tandem with HR leadership to develop and execute tactical plans that align with HR strategies. This role is a key contributor in the elevation of areas including employee relations, HR operations, talent management and talent acquisition.
An ideal candidate should be able to:
- Works with and provides professional level support to HR leadership to implement and/or remediate fundamental HR processes.
- Autonomously coach, counsel and support leaders with elevated employee relations, employee development and corrective action issues. Support leaders in the preparation of performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Support leadership in the development, communication, and implementation of core HR programs (HR operations, processes, talent management) that elevate the HR department’s performance and enable scale.
- Provide backup and support to talent acquisition as needed, including sourcing and interviewing candidates.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor HR staff members to include employment-related initiatives including core processes, performance management and talent management.
- Write, revise, edit, and proofread company policies & procedures and related documents as needed.
- Maintain a professional level currency in employment regulations including FLSA, EEOC, FMLA, ADA, NLRA, etc. that affect people functions. Take action to ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance. This may entail auditing current programs and practices and modifying and/or implementing new programs or processes to achieve acceptable standards.
- Observe, interface with others, review analytics and KPIs, perform exit interviews and engagement surveys to assess the pulse of the organization. Recommends and implements comprehensive HR processes and programs to effect positive change.
- Assess the effectiveness of HR programs and processes and support with metrics where applicable. Proactively recommend opportunities to elevate the HR department’s ability to support the organization.
- Navigate daily execution while supporting growth and implementing processes and programs for scale.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of general business administration as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in business administration is required
- A master’s degree in business administration or human resources is preferred
- 5-7 years of related experience is required with proven successful experience supervising others.
- Experience supporting a growth-oriented organization through transformation is preferred. Proven success leveraging change management and communication skills is a must.
- A thorough knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local employment legislation including FLSA, ADA, EEO, FMLA, and HIPAA is a must.
- The ability to be proactive and self-directed utilizing good time management, decision-making, prioritization and organization skills is required.
- The incumbent must be able to draw upon proven successful professional-level experience in a growing organization to be able to contribute to the elevation of the organization.
- Must possess strong leadership and relationship management skills with the ability to consult with, negotiate, and influence others in a collaborative manner.
