The Austin Community Food Co-Op seeks to empower and uplift the Austin community by providing access to local food through a member-owned grocery store and educational opportunities to learn about food literacy. Position Summary
The Austin Community Food Co-op is in search of a Marketing and Graphic Design Coordinator to support efforts that help promote the co-op activities including fundraising, events, and outreach. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in graphic design and website development, be fluent with a range of social media platforms, and be familiar with email marketing platforms. The Marketing and Graphic Design Coordinator reports directly to the marketing committee and is responsible for facilitating day to day communications and marketing activities of the co-op. The marketing and communications work includes managing the calendar and content for social media and the ability to use data management tools. Drives marketing strategy, engagement tactics, website development assistance, and content development. This role will create meaningful online experiences for Austin residents, co-op community, donors, volunteers and partners driving increased year over year revenue.
The position requires familiarity with the Austin community, experience with relationship management, and a high level of self-motivation. This role offers a great deal of executive visibility, opportunity to learn and take on more responsibilities going forward. The best candidate for this role will have a strong desire to develop skills, grow professionally and to cultivate relationships among the team and Austin community. To be successful in this role requires knowledge of cooperative structures and confidently working in collaboration with a team, as well as independently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Graphic Design
- Create content and marketing assets for a variety of needs including acknowledgment letters, social media posts, print and e-newsletters, and more.
Website
- Create custom graphics and infographics for the Austin Community Food Co-op website in line with brand vision.
- Maintain the Austin Community Food Co-op website to drive membership growth, improve information accessibility, elevate design, and optimize user engagement and experience.
Brand Identity/Alignment
- Maintaining logo, style guide, and brand integrity for the Austin Community Food Co-op. Steward the ACFC brand in all external and internal engagement.
Communications
- Ability to craft compelling messaging tailored to diverse target audiences, ensuring alignment with brand voice and marketing objectives.
- Plan and execute weekly email campaigns, manage and maintain email lists/segmentation, campaign monitoring and analysis.
Social Media Management
- Strategize, research, and execute ongoing social media campaigns.
- Oversee all social media channels—primarily Instagram and Facebook, with additional presence on YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn—while managing the communications calendar.
Analytics & Analysis
- Using analytics and reporting to discover insights and drive communications & community engagement strategies.
- Conduct questionnaire surveys to gather information and continuously assess food access needs in the community.
- Track metrics across social media channels and e-blasts to maintain digital engagement reports.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Extensive experience in creative graphic design is required, with proficiency in Adobe Suite and Canva.
Proficient in website management, particularly with Squarespace, is required
Highly organized/structured and self-determined Proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Mailchimp Ability to build relationships with targeted audiences and advocate for their needs as it relates to health and wellness
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to produce reports and work plans
Work Requirements:
To be most successful in this position having mobile transportation is essential for community engagement and event support. This job will be done in a hybrid environment working from home, co-working office space, and in the field as needed. Access to standard office equipment such as a computer, telephone, photocopier, scanner, and file storage is also needed. Should be passionate about the wellbeing of the Austin community. Location:
90% Remote
10% On-site at partner working space and at community events
Hours and Compensation:
This is a grant-funded contract position paying $15,000 at $35/hour for an April–December 2025 contract. We anticipate that the contractor will need to work an average of 5-10 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Based on contractor’s work quality and availability of additional funds, the parties may extend or modify the terms of the Scope of Work by mutual agreement.
