Position: Housekeeping Manager

Position Overview:
Cleanliness is essential to the Club and Austin Country Club is seeking a Housekeeping Manager that shares this passion. The Housekeeping Manager will be responsible for leading a team of individuals in the daily and long-term cleanliness of the facilities, including office areas, dining rooms, event space, rest rooms, golf and tennis facilities and swimming pool area. The Manager will have the responsibility of establishing short and long term housekeeping objectives, hiring, training and counseling staff, assigning tasks, overseeing the team’s activities, inspecting areas and managing the cleaning supply inventories. This is a participative leadership position with the Manager providing hands-on training and assisting with the duties as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Hiring, leading, training, overseeing and coaching the housekeeping team. A team who predominately speak Spanish.
- Establishing the daily cleaning activities and schedule for the team and leading and assisting the team in fulfilling their daily tasks.
- Assessing and establishing the long term housekeeping needs such as the cleaning of drapes, polishing and rug shampooing and creating, implementing and monitoring the long term cleaning schedule.
- Ensuring all facilities and outdoor areas, such as patios and walkways are exceptionally clean and pristine and reporting any areas in need of repair to the maintenance department.
- Investigating housekeeping criticisms and complaints and taking appropriate action.
- Assisting in establishing the housekeeping budget and managing and monitoring expenses to ensure the department’s budget is maintained.
- Creating a culture that utilizes in-house resources, minimizing the need for vendor services.
- Assessing and selecting, as needed, vendors for services that cannot or should not be performed in-house and overseeing vendor performance is as expected.
- Creating and safe work environment by implementing safety procedures and practices, training and educating staff and communicating the importance of safety.
Qualifications (knowledge, skills and abilities):
- Proven experience in successfully managing a housekeeping team, preferably with a luxury property, such as a club, hotel, resort, restaurant or related hospitality venue.
- Exceptional leadership skills in creating a team environment through hands-on leadership, training and developing team members.
- Comprehensive knowledge and hands on experience with cleaning chemicals and solutions and equipment.
- Knowledge of standard business management practices including, but to limited to, creating and monitoring budgets, service agreements and contractor performance.
- Knowledge and practice of the health and safety (Risk Management) programs and practices.
- Working Knowledge of Microsoft office, especially Word and Excel.
- Ability to lead a team whose primary language is Spanish.
- Ability to work weekends, nights and holidays as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
