Austin Kidney Associates (AKA) is dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care for people with kidney disease. With 32 board certified physicians and 8 clinical locations, we are the leading organization in Kidney Disease Management within the greater Austin area. We offer a full spectrum of services, including patient education, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and clinical research, with a focus on improving health and quality of life. In addition, we support patients with end-stage kidney failure with options including in-center hemodialysis, home peritoneal dialysis, home hemodialysis, kidney transplantation and hemodialysis access procedures.
We are currently seeking a Patient Services Representative to join our team.
The Patient Services Representative will:
- Greet and assist patients, physicians, staff members, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
- Schedule a high volume of patient appointments accurately and efficiently
- Verify and ensure completeness of patient registration documents
- Verify insurance eligibility information for upcoming appointments
- Verify and enter patient demographic information into the EHR
- Obtain referrals and authorizations as needed and document them in patient charts
- Collect and post patient payments
- Answer multi-line phone system, and triage calls
- Maintain waiting area by straightening chairs, replacing magazines, etc.
- End of day office closing
- Sort incoming mail and faxes
- Comply with all HIPAA regulations
- Must be willing to support multiple clinics (float) as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Required for this position:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Have excellent computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office®
- Have working knowledge of standard clinical concepts, practices, and procedures
- Have effective and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Must be dependable, organized, detail oriented, able to multitask effectively, and prioritize work
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred for this position:
- Epic Experience preferred but not required
- 2 year experience as a Clinical Patient Services Representative, Medical Front Office, Medical Office Coordinator, or Medical Receptionist
- 2 year experience in the use of electronic medical records preferred; Centricity a plus
- Proficiency in Spanish
