What are the responsibilities and job description for the Analytical Process Chemist position at Austin Powder Red Diamond?
Austin Powder Company is seeking an Analytical Chemist to use their knowledge of chemistry, instrumentation, computers, and statistics to solve problems in almost all areas of chemistry for our Red Diamond location.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Raw Material Testing when needed
- Field Complaints/Reports
- A/QC Functions
- Environmental Support both analytical and system design
- Method Development/Procedures
- Instrumental chemical analysis (FTIR, DSC, HPLC, GC, Colorimetry)
- Lab equipment maintenance
- Participation in R&D projects (i.e., PETN emulsion booster, biodegradable seismic charges, etc.)
- Application design and support for US Nitrogen FTIR fuel emulsifier analysis for Bulk emulsion production
- Analytical equipment troubleshooting
- Evaluation testing of proposed PPE/reactive chemicals
- Management of high explosives in lab environments
- Maintaining of a robust PETN process control and QA/QC system
- Participation in Austin Technical panel/R&D teams
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelors in chemistry/will consider experience in lieu of education
- Min 5 years of experience in chemical facilities/labs, including sample preparation.
- Masters degree preferred
