What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emulsion Operator (1st Shift) position at Austin Powder Red Diamond?
EMULSION OPERATOR
The Emulsion Operator will be responsible for the safe, productive manufacturing processes within our Emulsion department including, but not limited to, following all written work instruction and operating procedures related to the areas packaging and handling of explosive products; inspect manufactured products for accuracy; recognize hazards within the production area; operate equipment and ensure equipment is running properly; troubleshoot and problem solve with Supervisor/Area Lead on any technical issues as needed; operate and maintain manufacturing vehicles when needed; and any other duties as assigned by Area Lead, Supervisor and/or Department Manager.
EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 18 years old
- Basic Math skills (basic counting skills required)
- Ability to read and maintain proper documentation as required
- Meet requirements of all state and federal explosive laws and qualify as an ATF explosive processor
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Availability to work various shifts as required by business demands
- Ability to work overtime when applicable
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Must be forklift certified
- May have to be certified to drive box truck and semi-tractor
- Must be able to operate various types of machinery and set up of machines.
- Must understand the need to be cross trained and willing to do different tasks daily
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS/WORK ENVIORNMENT
- Work environment is loud and hearing protection is required in some areas (range of 50 - 90 decibels)
- Physically be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis
- Ability to stand/walk up to 10 hours per day
- Have high manual dexterity
- Work uniforms and PPE are required
- Must be able to work in various conditions (hot/cold/damp)
- Ability to work on a ladder (i.e. heightened work surface)
- Willingness to be fitted and wear formal respirator, half face style, as needed
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
- High school diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- 1 years manufacturing experience or
- 1 years explosive or chemical manufacturing
- Mechanically inclined
