PURPOSE

Provides support to the Lab Director, Lab Manager, and Lab Supervisor. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.

PURPOSE
Oversees the Total Quality Management programs in the laboratory to include Continued Quality Improvement, Quality systems, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control. Provides support to the Lab Director, Lab Manager, and Lab Supervisor. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for proficiency testing program to include receipt, handling, testing, reporting and corrective action in cooperation with the Lab Supervisor.
- Develops and maintains written procedures in cooperation with the Lab Supervisor.
- Develops and maintains Quality Control procedures and corrective action.
- Assists with development of QA scope to include values, customers, customer needs, lab service capabilities, and labs vision.
- Monitors and reports QA goals, objectives, and tasks.
- Coordinates and surveys TQM improvement management at the bench.
- Prepares preventive follow-up responses to TQM indicators above the threshold.
- Ensures all regulatory requirements within the TQM scope are followed.
- Coordinates all TQM activities with the Lab Supervisor in cooperation with the Lab Director.
- Maintains educational level in all areas of responsibility in order to accomplish goals.
- Recognizes and supports the organization’s preferences and priorities.
- Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results, and either corrects the problem or refers it to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Manages supplies in conjunction with the Materials Supervisor
- Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
- Regular and dependable attendance.
- Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on CMSweb.
- Works holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy.
- Performs the duties of a Medical Laboratory Scientist II.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Required
- One of the following:
- Associate degree in clinical laboratory science with four (4) or more years’ experience in clinical laboratory (experience requirement can include school laboratory training) and have successfully passed the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Certification exam.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science related field and completion of a clinical laboratory science, or medical technology program from an accredited institution with one (1) or more years of experience in clinical laboratory (experience can include school laboratory training) and be certification eligible (ASCP or AMT)
- Bachelor’s degree in science related field with four (4) or more years of experience in clinical laboratory and be certification eligible (ASCP or AMT)
- Phlebotomy may be required.
- Qualified as Testing Personnel as defined under CLIA.
Experience in Quality Management. At least 1 year of experience working at ARC.
