Summary: The Accountant will be instrumental in accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. This position works in conjunction with the Accounting team and various departments to research balancing issues and performs a variety of support duties related to the credit union's accounting function.
Compensation
Salary commiserate with experience.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for general accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare general ledger reconciliations monthly and resolves any inaccuracies or imbalances.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are processed accurately, promptly, and in accordance with GAAP standards, regulatory requirements, and systems of internal control.
- Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Prepare documentation and provide support and assistance with audits and regulatory examinations.
- Develop and maintain financial databases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems.
- Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
- Perform variance analysis and periodic reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, preferred
- 2 years of accounting experience, with a focus on general ledgers and financial reporting
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial regulations
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to continue education and training for professional growth
