Summary
The Data Administrator is responsible for leveraging datasets to design, implement, and manage systems for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data in accordance with end users' information needs across all departments in the CU. This role merges the disciplines of data analysis and database administration to provide a seamless flow of information, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end users. Success in this role requires proficiency in MS SQL, including advanced techniques such as CTE, Window Functions, Aggregate Functions, and Temp Tables. Experience with Microsoft Report Builder, SSRS, and basic database administration is essential, with familiarity with PowerShell considered a plus.
Location: 11149 Research Blvd., Austin, TX, 78759.
Attendance and Schedule: This is an onsite position. From time to time, you may have activities to be performed after hours and/or on weekends or holidays.
Salary
Pay Range: $50,000 to $82,000.

Job Responsibilities Include
- Design and implement high-availability and quality data systems based on different departments' or end users' information needs and views.
- Conducts complex data analysis, identifies patterns and trends, and interprets data integrity requirements to identify opportunities for improvement in multiple functional areas.
- Develops, maintains, and shares comprehensive data reports and visualizations to communicate the results of data analysis.
- Provides proactive and reactive data management support and training to users, along with effective data analysis techniques.
- Provides insight, support, and documentation for data management policies, procedures, and standards while collaborating with relevant department leads to ensure accurate implementation of data analysis models.
- Advises on the implementation of data security measures to safeguard sensitive information from unauthorized access, unsafe or inappropriate sharing, transfer, or use. Works closely with the Information Security team to ensure the effective deployment of these measures for enhanced data protection.
- Conducts regular tests and evaluations to assess data security, compliance, privacy, performance, and integrity. Collaborates with relevant stakeholders, including the Information Security team, to establish robust testing processes that help maintain the overall data health and meet the required standards.
- Builds a corporate data structure aimed at eliminating data silos by consolidating or aggregating data into a single source.
- Utilizes statistical analysis and data visualization tools to assist in decision-making processes and to improve business operations.
- Proficient in optimizing data systems, creating user-friendly interfaces, and performing comprehensive data analysis to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Proficiency in programming languages API and data analysis tools like Python or R.
- Knowledge of database structure languages, such as SQL or SQL/PSM.
- Familiarity with database management and data analysis best practices.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js for creating insightful data visualizations and reports
- Strong analytical skills, ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-starter with a collaborative attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work across organizational boundaries.
- Strong work ethic and able to self-manage workloads and deliverables under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present data-driven insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school or GED is required, and a degree in a computer discipline is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related technical experience or combination of education and training and/or relevant certifications.
- 1-2 years experience in a data administrator role is preferred.
- SQL experience is highly preferred.
- Strong communication and decision-making skills are required.
