Description
Cuts and joins metals and other materials using the appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. 6-12 months of TIG experience with mild and stainless steel sheet metal. Proficient with measuring tape. Able to lift 70 pounds occasionally. Willing and able to learn and help in other departments, as needed.
Responsibilities
Operation
Determine appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
Setup components for welding according to specifications.
Operate angle grinders, torches, etc to prepare parts that must be welded.
Align components using tape measure, protractors, calipers, etc.
Verifies and adjusts welding conditions as needed to meet part specifications.
Verifies material specifications with Mfg Order and drawing.
Manages raw material and consumable usage in an efficient manner.
Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
Welding
6-12 months TIG experience with mild and stainless steel sheet metal.
Follows direction given by welding lead & welding manager.
Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG, etc).
Inspects 1st Article per Mfg Order Instructions.
Verifies 1st Article and subsequent parts meet specifications.
Follows Mfg Order Instructions.
Loading/Unloading (if manufacturing support person is unavailable)
Loads raw materials onto work benches in a safe manner, up to 70 pounds on occasion.
Unloads parts and excess material from work benches in a safe manner.
Reporting
Fills in Mfg Order information as needed (manufacturing times, first article QA).
Problem Solving
Proficient with measuring tape.
Ability to solve basic math problems.
Does basic machine adjustments to achieve tolerance/finish/speed requirements.
Housekeeping
Keeps machine/work area organized, tidy, clean, swept.
Keeps paperwork in order, clean and complete.
Performs routine machine maintenance.
