What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Operator position at Austin Wood Recycling Inc?
Heavy Equipment operators at Austin Wood Recycling are responsible for operating a variety of equipment types to clear and grind trees, limbs, and other natural forest materials; as well as the equipment used to manufacture mulches and soils.
Equipment Operators will progress from operating wheel loaders, track loaders, excavators, to grinders. We expect equipment operators to operate all our equipment in a safe and professional manner and to maintain a professional demeaner when engaging with customers and coworkers.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work /- 60 hours per week to include Saturdays with overtime (hours not guaranteed)
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, if applicable.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and kneel for long periods of time and walk for short periods.
- Must be able to climb into and out of equipment several times per day using 3 points of contact.
- Must be able to use hand and arms to steer and to operate finger controls and adjust controls as needed inside and outside of equipment.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and crawl to perform full inspection of the equipment and clean equipment.
- Must be able to work outside for periods of time in all weather.
- Must be able to see and hear proficiently to operate a motor vehicle and equipment in a safe manner.
- Must be able to frequently use arms overhead for multiple job functions to include cleaning equipment and tossing ropes or tie down straps using an overhead motion.
- Must be able to pull a rope with up to 40lbs of resistance using arms only.
- Must be able to work in a dusty environment (tolerate various types of work dust).
- Must perform “look around” and be able to twist the upper body to look far right/left and behind when moving equipment (check for blind spots)
