JOB DESCRIPTION:
*This position is for Saturday Recreation (R&R) Program from 9:30am-4:00pm.*
Our Saturday Recreation Program is a structured recreation program directed by a Recreational Therapist. The program focuses on recreational therapy goals and allows the participant to experience their community and surrounding areas by giving them the opportunity for community recreation that may not be readily available otherwise.
Some activities include: Movie outings, local festivals, hikes and exploring nature trails, and visiting local tourist attractions. R&R also provides opportunities to work on social skills and community integration.
Our Direct Support Professionals (DSP's) at Breakthrough work to provide support for adults with autism in residential and community settings.
DSP's are required to have their own vehicle with insurance and a valid driver's license with good driving history. DSP's are responsible for safely escorting individuals out in the community. Other responsibilities include taking excellent notes on activities and services provided, keeping the house in good order, and maintaining quality relationships with other staff, with person's supported, and with person's supported families.
DSP's are required to be CPR and First Aid certified before working shifts and must supply a copy of a high school diploma, GED, or higher education.
DSP's will be 1:1 to 3:1 ratio with persons supported. DSP will provide support during recreational and community outings such as transportation, helping with ADLs, and encouraging participation in activities.
