What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Technician (BT) position at Autism Therapeutic Services?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Behavioral Technician provides clinical care to children with autism and developmental disabilities across home, community, and school settings. Responsibilities include implementing behavior interventions, collecting data, assisting with parent training, and supporting the clinical team.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Complete Autism and ABA Training upon hire and provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings.
- Implement behavior protocols, including skill acquisition, behavior reduction, and toilet training.
- Collect, record, and analyze data on client behaviors and progress.
- Assist in parent training and communicate client progress as directed by the BCBA.
- Ensure safe handling of clients and maintain confidentiality.
- Support the clinical team with assessing skills, preparing materials, and assuming Lead Technician duties when needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and collaborate with clients, families, and professionals to ensure successful treatment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Accept constructive feedback and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Strong communication and ability to build professional relationships.
- Adhere to organizational policies, the Behavior Analyst Certification Board's ethics, and HIPAA regulations.
- Commit to ongoing training and maintain a professional appearance.
BASIC & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lift up to 50 pounds and assist with client mobility using adaptive equipment.
- Ability to assume various postures (kneeling, squatting, sitting, standing) for extended periods.
- Restrain/transport clients when necessary and use manual dexterity for data collection.
- Physically present at assigned job locations, with reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Behavioral Technician 1: Entry-level
- Behavioral Technician 2-5: Varies by experience and education.
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.
- Preferred Experience: Working with children in 1:1 or classroom settings or experience with ABA principles.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
- Employment Supervisor: Executive Director
- Clinical Supervisor: Behavior Analyst
RELATED TRAINING:
- Complete required certifications (CPR, Fingerprinting & Background Checks, RBT) and other in-services as directed.
