Operates electrostatic painting equipment to spray negatively charged paint particles onto positively charged work pieces in order to paint parts for cranes, winches, or truck bodies by performing the following duties:
- Cleans and prepares surface for painting.
- Cleans paint from ceiling and walls of booth, conveyor hooks or grid, and from disks, cones, spray heads, and hoses as needed.
- Dries parts prior to paint application using air gun.
- Hand sprays parts to cover unpainted areas or apply rust preventative.
- Inspects painted units for runs, sags, and unpainted areas to ensure that painted areas match quality specifications.
- Maintains paint equipment to ensure that it is functioning properly.
- Measures paint and solvent levels daily.
- Mixes paint according to specifications with viscometer to regulate consistency according to changes in atmospheric conditions.
- Monitors manometers to ensure paint filters are clean enough to operate properly; changes filters when manometer indicates.
- Moves switches and dials to start flow current, and to activate conveyor and paint spraying equipment.
- Performs all quality control tests as required including the wash system and manometers.
- Readjusts pressure valves to control direction and pattern of spray and to correct flaws in coating.
- Sets up and troubleshoots paint equipment.
- Sprays primer or undercoating on parts.
- Turns valves and observes gauges to set pressure and to control flow of paint to each spray station.
- Performs Paint Prep duties as needed.
- $22.00 hr. plus $1.00 differential pay when working 3rd shift hours. (Sun. - Thur., 8:30pm to 5:00am overtime when needed)
