JOB DESCRIPTION: NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR
JOB TITLE: Network Administrator
NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR SUMMARY: Manages the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of computer network activities.
NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and implements design, configuration, installation, and maintenance of network hardware, software, and telecommunications services.
- Maintains the integrity of the network/systems security and optimization of the network (LAN and WAN).
- Develops and implements policies and procedures related to network hardware and software acquisition, use, support, security, and backup.
- Responds to the needs and questions of network users; troubleshoots, diagnoses, and fixes hardware and/or software problems.
- Establishes and maintains network users, user environment, directories, and security.
- Develops and communicates standards for use, operations, and security of the network, personal computers, and data; trains users on software and equipment usage.
- Interfaces with other departments and vendors to report and resolve software, hardware, and operations problems; develops system solutions consistent with organizational objectives.
- Researches and evaluates new technologies and negotiates contracts with and activities of hardware, software, telecommunications, support, and training vendors; installs, maintains, and upgrades computer workstations and software.
- Develops and implements disaster recovery procedures; prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts; monitors and maintains network stability.
- Provides Intranet and Internet services that allow employees to connect to data and applications.
- Installs and configures desktop and laptop systems.
- Provides project management, design implementation, documentation, and operations support for network infrastructure.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 3 years prior experience as a network administrator.
- 3 Years’ experience with setting up and managing Windows Servers, DHCP, Active Directory, and VPN service.
- Experience automating system administration tasks using a scripting language such as PowerShell, Python, or Microsoft .NET is required
- Must possess working knowledge of and direct experience with network design and troubleshooting; routing, bridging, and gateways; Internet website applications and servers; LAN support; hardware/software.
