Position Description:
The Regional Human Resource Manager ( RHRM) guides, promotes, and supports the vision, mission, and values of AWC. The RHRM supports AWC's efforts to place the right people with the right skills in a cost-effective manner.
List of Responsibilities/Main Functions:
- Develops and administers various plans and procedures for the associates at assigned facilities.
- Conduct impartial investigation to ensure a healthy, safe and productive work environment.
- Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiencies of the human resource functions.
- Participates in developing goals, objectives and systems with facility managers, supervisors and recommends changes when necessary.
- Recommends and implements policies and procedure; prepares and maintains handbooks on policies and procedures; recommends and sits in on bargaining committee for union negotiations; addresses and responds to union grievances.
- Assists in keeping associates and/or union informed of all changes in policies, counsels with associates on policies and on personal problems.
- Assist in managing workers comp claims.
- Assists in the solutions and appropriate adjustments to complaints received from associates and management.
- Collaborates with Regional HR Recruiter to, assure that properly qualified associates are recruited and hired for positions within the assigned facilities.
- Safeguard and maintain confidentiality where required or where appropriate and exercise the utmost degree of professionalism and discretion in all HR matters.
- Collaborates with facility supervision in disciplinary or termination proceedings including completion of termination checklist and supporting documentation to reduce liability and ensure fairness.
- Reviews and authorizes applicant's pre-employment; work, criminal and educational history to ensure qualifications and compliance with policy on hiring criteria.
- Coordinates, recommends and participates with facility supervision in disciplinary or termination proceedings including completion of termination checklist and supporting documentation
- Protects the interest of associates and company in accordance with company policies and governmental laws and regulations. Identifies legal requirements and governmental regulations and monitors exposure of the company.
- Works in conjunction with the Director of Humans Resources to administer in-house management training programs that address needs of the facility and/or company. Keeps Director of Human Resources informed of significant problems that could jeopardize the achievement of the company.
- Work with Vice President of Labor Relations and Director of Human Resources, on all legal claims ie; lawsuits, civil, EEO, etc.
- Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
- Collaborates with each facility to make progress and follow-up on their Associate feedback (ASK) Program.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in business or other related field
- 5-8 years of HR Experience, HR implementing programs, working with organized labor and coaching management
- 3-5 years in addressing and responding to union grievances
- Certifications in either SHRM -CP or PHR
- Generalist background with knowledge of employment, compensation, organization planning, employee relations, barging units
Work Environment
- Office environment with extended periods of sitting, computer use, and occasional public speaking.
- Although the position is located in Dearborn MI, occasional travel, both domestic and international, is required.
