Automated Systems, Inc. is seeking an Automation Control Systems Engineer to join our team based in Lake Bluff, IL. In this role, your responsibilities will encompass defining requirements, formulating intricate software design specifications, programming PLC applications, configuring thin client server applications, setting up process-based historian databases, fine-tuning control loops, delivering control system startup services, troubleshooting existing control systems, and overseeing control system qualifications. This role presents an exceptional opportunity to lead projects from their conceptualization to the commissioning phases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Electrical – Troubleshoots automation equipment through PLC, servo, robotics, HMI/MMI, and related process control and automation systems.
• Electrical – Prepares standard operating procedures for new and existing automation and process control equipment.
• Mechanical – Prepares standard operating procedures for new and existing mechanical equipment related to automation.
• Mechanical – Troubleshoots mechanical equipment associated with automation and manufacturing processes.
• Manages medium scope projects from inception to completion.
• Consistent verbal and written communication to Engineering and Manufacturing Management to inform department of progress to keep on track with timeline.
• Installs, validates and put into production equipment modifications and capital projects.
• Performs hardware/software modifications, and documents system functional specification updates while adhering to documentation and change control requirements.
• Manages the cost estimating of medium scoped process improvements and medium capital budget items as well as the spending of approved project funds.
Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Engineering Project Management or Engineer Technology
• 5 years of direct, relevant experience
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to read and develop mechanical blueprints
• Strong computer skills with experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, CAD software, and MS Project or related software
• Serialization (Systech) experience desirable
• Electrical/computer troubleshooting skills
• Manufacturing experience desirable GxP / familiar with good documentation/manufacturing practices
• Must have working knowledge configuring, programming and starting up HMI and SCADA systems
• A working knowledge of PLC systems, including Rockwell and Siemens is required.
• A working knowledge of servos and drives, including Allen-Bradley Kinetix and Siemens Simotion.
• Should have working knowledge of field wiring practices and panel design, and experience with troubleshooting and start-up of control systems.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.
•Must be willing to travel to client sites locally and potentially out of state occasionally.
Salary : $50 - $75
