Automated Systems, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer to join a pharmaceutical / biotech manufacturing leader in North Chicago, IL . This contract-to-hire role is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects in a cutting-edge industry.
Job Role Overview :
This role is critical in ensuring reliability, compliance, and efficiency of electrical power systems supporting facilities, utilities, and equipment used in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals and biotech bulk and finished products. The ideal candidate will have a deep technical understanding of power distribution and infrastructure, along with the ability to provide strategic guidance on system design, compliance, and best practices in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Power System Design & Compliance : Review electrical infrastructure, backup power systems, and skidded equipment to ensure compliance with company Standards, international codes, and industry best practices. Drive updates to Global Engineering Assurance Team standards.
- Industry Leadership & Best Practices : Stay ahead of regulatory guidance and emerging trends in electrical power systems, ensuring that facilities, utilities, and equipment in manufacturing environments meet the highest standards.
- Capital Project Support : Provide technical direction from conceptual design to installation and commissioning, including system description narratives, one-line diagrams, Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies.
- Equipment & Vendor Oversight : Guide equipment selection, direct suppliers, and lead factory / site acceptance testing to ensure reliability and compliance with operational needs.
- Commissioning & Troubleshooting : Support system startups, troubleshoot power distribution issues, and evaluate electric utility infrastructure options to optimize performance.
- Training & Knowledge Sharing : Develop and present continuing education topics to enhance internal expertise.
- Regulated Manufacturing Environment : Work within pharmaceutical / biotech regulatory frameworks to support commercial, manufacturing, laboratory, and campus-wide electrical systems.
