Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and eager Trainee to join our team as a Fire Door Technician.
Your role would primarily be the inspection, repair & replacement of fire rated commercial doors. We provide a fire door inspection service to our customers & do all of the follow up repairs. Our work is primarily within hospitals, so cleanliness is of the utmost importance. This job is often as simple as installing shims behind door hinges yet sometimes as complex as a full door/frame & associated hardware replacement.
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced technicians with installation and repair tasks across multiple disciplines.
- Conduct thorough site inspections to identify fire door-related issues and deficiencies.
- Perform repairs and replacements of fire doors and associated hardware as needed.
- Develop and implement effective solutions to address any fire door-related issues identified during inspections.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless execution of projects and excellent customer service.
- Provide regular updates and reports to management and customers on project status and progress.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry developments and best practices related to fire door safety and inspection.
- Engage in heavy lifting (75 pounds, intermittently) and physical labor as required by specific projects.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic knowledge or interest in carpentry, locksmithing, or related fields is a plus.
- Ability to read schematics and follow detailed instructions.
- Willingness to learn.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting (75 pounds intermittently) and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software applications.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
