Automatic Fire Systems, Inc., a leading fire protection and plumbing contractor with over 40 years of experience providing design engineering, fabrication, and installation services for fire sprinkler systems across Northern Illinois, Chicagoland, and Southern Wisconsin, is seeking qualified candidates for a Fire Sprinkler Engineering position.
The ideal candidate should be a fast learner and will receive on-the-job training to develop a strong understanding of building codes and fire sprinkler systems.
Engineer Responsibilities include:
- Design layout
- Site surveys
- Fabrication & material listing
- Material and equipment submittals
- Close-out procedures
Job Description:
- Compiling submittal packages and Operations & Maintenance Manuals
- Design and manage projects under the guidance of the Director of Engineering
- Prepare material lists, complete pipe fabrication sheets, and compile all required information for the Foreman to initiate the job
- Assist Engineers with on-site field surveys, perform fire hydrant flow tests, and attend construction progress meetings for various projects
This is an entry-level position requiring strong PC skills. Proficiency in Windows-based AutoCAD design software is essential. Candidates should demonstrate problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, mechanical aptitude, spatial orientation, and attention to detail. A strong work ethic and the ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines are required. The ability to read construction plans is preferred. A valid driver’s license is also required.

- Bachelor's degree required
- A background in construction is desired
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
