Description:
We are seeking a detailed Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in understanding and transforming project requirements into a completed design using SolidWorks. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for completing and updating all project design details, cycle time charts, and assembly build instructions. This individual will work alongside our staff of engineers, machine builders, and electricians. Engineering, design, and analysis along with machine assembly and debugging take place on our clean, state-of-the-art shop floor at our Rochester Hills office.
Responsibilities:
- Complete design and detail using SolidWorks with efficiency
- Design fixtures and assembly lines integration
- Design machine assemblies and sub-assemblies
- Design machine and part details
- Create a Bill of Materials (BOM) specifications
- Create and maintain machine timing charts
- Manage workload with efficiency by working closely with engineering staff and the Project Manager to keep the project timeline in check.
- Time tracking
- Utilize safety protocols
- Communicate with vendors for specific parts
- Keep the design within the criteria of the customer's requirements
- Other assignments may be delegated at any time.
Qualifications:
A Mechanical Engineer with practical experience, who enjoys a hands-on approach and exhibits the following:
- Proficient in Machine Design
- Proficient in technical knowledge of mechanical/electrical components
- Expert skill with SolidWorks 3D Design
- Expert skill with SolidWorks Toolbox, basic and advanced
- Expert skill with Autodesk Inventor
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Degree or related experience in Mechanical Design
- Knowledge of welding, robotics, and lasers
