Relocation Note: Currently located in Pell City, AL, ARC will be relocating to a new facility in Childersburg, AL, starting in March 2025.
Job Overview:
ARC is looking for a skilled and experienced Automation Specialist to help design, implement, and optimize our automated systems. In this role, you’ll work closely with our software development team to improve existing processes and develop innovative solutions to meet our company’s growing and dynamic needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, program, and deploy automated systems using PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
- Integrate robotics, motion control, and sensor technologies into production processes.
- Perform regular maintenance on automation equipment to ensure reliability and minimize downtime.
- Document operational activities and maintain accurate records for reference.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Analyze data to recommend system improvements for efficiency and cost reduction.
- Test new equipment to ensure it meets specifications before deployment.
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate processes across production and administrative workflows.
- Collaborate with teams to identify and implement workflow automation opportunities.
- Maintain and optimize existing automation solutions while incorporating emerging technologies.
- Stay updated on advancements in automation and recommend system enhancements.
- Provide training and support to employees on the use and maintenance of automation systems.
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve issues and ensure optimal software and hardware performance.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in automation engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field. (Associate degrees with significant experience may also be considered.)
- 3 years of software development experience, with a focus on automation.
- Proficiency in programming languages and industrial communication protocols.
- Experience with robotics integration, motion control systems, and sensor technologies.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety), and other safety standards.
