Relocation Note: Currently located in Pell City, AL, ARC will be relocating to a new facility in Childersburg, AL, starting in early 2025.
Job Overview:
In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in our engineering projects by creating technical drawings and plans using AutoCAD Electrical software. Your primary responsibility will be to design, create, and maintain project drawings efficiently, ensuring they meet or exceed project specifications, budget requirements, and industry standards. This role involves close collaboration with engineering and production teams to accurately document project components, including layout and wiring details, field connections, material lists, and installation specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support CAD operations by implementing and enforcing client standards, providing technical assistance for CAD software, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Produce precise, comprehensive, and professional documents and working drawings based on engineers' specifications or sketches while following established production and client standards.
- Develop a variety of electrical drawings, including single-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, sections, and detailed views using CAD software.
- Manage CAD document archives, ensure the accuracy and integrity of drawings, and serve as the subject matter expert for customer document control systems.
- Act as a bridge between operations, project engineering teams, and vendors, assisting with shop drawing coordination and review during project execution.
- Convert panel ideas onto relevant title block format to be used as production type drawings.
- Create detailed fabrication drawings for custom enclosures and related accessories for metal fabricators.
- Revise drawings for re-submittal or shipping and provide laminated drawings for inclusion in panels prior to shipment, as needed.
- Generate and store PDF versions of all drawing sets created or revised on the network for record-keeping.
- Document final product changes by visiting the production area, testing area, or job site.
- Collaborate with the engraving department to create drawings for custom engraving requirements.
- Produce full-size layout plots for door cutting templates as required by the shop.
- Coordinate tasks with other departments and work groups as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Preferred: At least two (2) years of education and/or professional experience with AutoCAD, or sufficient AutoCAD training from a recognized institution combined with a strong willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in interpreting and creating electrical schematics is required.
- Competence in scaling drawing layouts for production purposes.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and email communication.
- Understanding of fundamental drafting principles.
- Ability to contribute to the design of electrical equipment and components.
- A strong commitment to accuracy and consistency, with a willingness to learn and improve.
