For over 20 years our client has distributed products, offered technical support and provided IT services for wired and wireless machine networking applications. The service group provides customers with designs, deploys and supports open-architecture solutions for the manufacturing floor, process control systems and municipal control markets.
This position is responsible for the technical support, technical solution and development for systems that promote the customer's ruggedized networking strategy.
You will succeed in this role if you have industrial automation and controls background and networking experience or industrial automation and controls experience with the willingness to learn networking.
Qualifications
Technical, Engineering or Computer Science degree or equivalent educational background.
Cisco Certified Professional is preferred.
Experience with extensive networking solutions including routing and switching protocols, STP, MRP, REP, IGMP, SNMP, NAT, CDP, LLDP, SSH and VLAN configuration, etc.
3-5 years of experience implementing networking solutions in industrial and automation environments
Experience with 802.11 wireless applications including bridging, routing and encryption
Understanding of cellular networking applications including GSM, GPRS, EDVO, HSPA, HSUPA and LTE.
Experience with onsite audits to gather information required for a recommended network design.
Experience with industrial automation technologies such as PLC, DCS and SCADA.
Excellent communication and collaboration with other associates.
Proven technical writing skills for engineered solutions.
Experience with project planning, documentation and scheduling a networking solution.
Perform onsite project management for network equipment installation and manage team of installers to fiber a copper cabling standards.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain robust networking solutions tailored for industrial and automation environments.
Troubleshoot complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking issues involving protocols such as IP, EIGRP, STP, REP, IGMP, and VLANs.
Develop and configure secure wireless networks with encryption for industrial applications.
Integrate and manage cellular networking hardware and secure communication protocols like VPN and IPSec.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and maintain system reliability.
Document networking solutions comprehensively, including technical specifications, configurations, and user guides using MS Visio and Office applications.
Stay current with industry advancements in networking technologies and industrial automation.
Provide training or support to colleagues and clients on implemented networking systems.
Ensure all networking solutions comply with relevant standards and security requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
Frequent travel (approximately 50%) in the US to customers in industrial environments.
Must reside in the Dallas / Fort Worth area.
Willing to work in the office in Plano, TX.
