A growing new car dealership in upstate New York is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Manager to lead its service department to the next level. The ideal candidate is sales-oriented, skilled at coaching service advisors on effective upselling, and ready to step in wherever needed to ensure the department runs as smoothly as possible and that customers have the best experience possible. The department has a solid team of technicians and is poised for further growth, with plans to expand the shop under the right leadership.
Key priorities include fostering a positive, performance-driven environment, maintaining strong CSI, ensuring warranties are processed properly, and maximizing opportunities. This is an excellent long-term opportunity for a proactive Service Manager looking to make an impact and grow with a dealership to build a long-term home for themselves.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service department
- Create and implement processes to increase efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability in the service department.
- Set a clear vision for the Service Department to achieve targeted performance goals.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction by addressing needs and complaints promptly.
- Maintain strong Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) scores.
- Hire, train, and develop service department staff.
- Provide training to service technicians to help them improve their skills and knowledge.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to improve team performance.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for consistency and quality.
- Monitor and improve service processes for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet manufacturer specifications and dealership standards.
- Prepare and manage the service department budget.
- Monitor financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability.
- Coordinate with the parts department for timely availability of parts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to foster loyalty and repeat business.
- Handle customer disputes and negotiate solutions to ensure satisfaction.
- Generate and analyze reports on service department performance, including productivity, efficiency, and financial metrics.
- Communicate department performance and issues to dealership management.
- Participate in management meetings and contribute to dealership strategy and decision-making.
- Promote service specials and upsell additional services to increase revenue.
- Collaborate with the sales department to support service-related promotions and events.
- Stay updated on manufacturer guidelines and training requirements.
Compensation / Benefits:
- Compensation range will be in the $100,000 range at current volume, with room for growth.
