A well-established, high-volume import dealership north of Boston is seeking an experienced and results-driven Service Director to lead its service operations. This is a rare opportunity within a stable, low-turnover dealer group , offering long-term career growth for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing large, high-volume service departments . This role requires a process-driven leader with strong organizational and leadership skills to oversee all aspects of the department while ensuring efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability. It's important that this person leads by example, brings the energy every day, and sets the ton of the department so that their team is motivated, focused, and has clear direction.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service department
- Create and implement processes to increase efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability in the service department.
- Set a clear vision for the Service Department to achieve targeted performance goals.
- Hold daily and weekly meetings for the department, as well as 1 : 1s with individual team members.
- Ensure the department has green CSI through building and maintaining relationships with customers and ensuring that they receive high-quality service.
- Oversee the Service Advisors and ensure that ROs are written up and closed out in a timely manner.
- Manage and supervise the service technicians, ensuring that all work is performed to the highest standards and within established timelines.
- Provide training to service technicians to help them improve their skills and knowledge.
- Recruit, interview and train service staff; handle performance reviews
- Create an exceptional customer experience to drive customer loyalty
- Develop and manage budgets and operating plans for the service department, monitoring performance and making adjustments as needed.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge about the latest automotive technologies and stay current on industry trends.
- Collaborate with other departments within the dealership to ensure seamless and efficient operations.
- Monitor / control all warranty activity to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Ensure the Service area is customer-customer ready with proper displays and information
- Other duties as required
