Job Summary:
The Automotive Technician Training Program manager will coordinate with the service writer and lab instructor roles to meet the needs of the school. ATTP Instructor is responsible for teaching students the fundamentals of automotive repair and maintenance. This role involves developing lesson plans, delivering lectures, and providing hands-on training in automotive diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver lesson plans that meet automotive technology ASE curriculum standards with a focus on 100% Master Mechanic ASE Certification.
- Provide hands-on training in automotive diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.
- Direct the Lab Instructor to manage the lab students time to reinforce the training received in the classroom.
- Direct the Service Writer to provide the lab students with work suitable to reinforce the training received in the classroom where applicable.
- Evaluate student progress through assessments, projects, and examinations.
- Guide the Lab Instructor to maintain and manage the vocational lab/shop and its equipment.
- Develop and update curriculum to stay current with industry standards.
- Ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
- Assist students in preparing for ASE certification exams.
- Provide direction for remedial efforts to students who fail the ASE certification.
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology or a related field.
- ASE certification in multiple areas (e.g., brakes, electrical systems, engine performance).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of industry experience in automotive repair and maintenance.
- Previous teaching or training experience is preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well with diverse groups of students.
