POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position will be an employee of Automotive Testing and Development Services, Inc. (ATDS). Under the direction of the ATDS Operations Manager, the employee will be assigned to provide services to a Department of the Uvalde Proving Grounds (UPG). The Test Tire Technician is responsible for performing various tire mounting & dismounting, balancing, rotation, and repair activities, etc. in accordance with the specific procedures related to the Department assigned to. This work involves but not limited to the tires for passenger cars, light trucks, commercial trucks, and/or other types of vehicles or equipment.
The primary duties of this position require flexibility and the ability to perform the necessary work or be trained to perform work which might not be familiar to the individual. The level of work responsibility will coincide with level of training accomplished and as signature-certified by the Lead Technician and/or Supervisory-Management persons (see attached documents).
The Individual must complete assigned projects using applicable skills, tools/equipment and materials as assigned/supplied. The individual may be requested to contribute information to the Management Team, Team Leaders and/or Engineers to assist in the planning of projects.
As a Test Tire Technician, the individual must be experienced with and aware of the current facility equipment and be a persistent problem solver. The individual will be required to perform work specified on work orders or other instructions (verbal or written). All work is to be performed and completed in a Safe, Efficient and Quality Manner in accordance with the Department Managers Expectations-Requirements and shall meet or exceed Industry Standards.
The Individual must be Knowledgeable, Experienced and Skilled for the tasks assigned as-well-as with the accessories-tools for those tasks assigned. Duties-Tasks assigned include but are not limited to:
JOB DUTIES, SKILLS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Completes assigned projects by applying the needed skills and utilizing available equipment, tools, etc. to fit the scope of work as required,
· Meets or exceeds goals by providing Quality work and information,
· Resolves problems as may occur and identify solutions to methods, techniques, standards, etc. to result in continuous improvement,
· Report unusual or extraordinary circumstances regarding the inventory, property, buildings, etc.,
· As applicable, meet timetables and/or budgets by identifying variances, taking corrective actions, and providing operating information to management and/or engineering,
· Maintains strict compliance to safety, technical specifications and code compliance as may be applicable,
· Maintains a safe, secure, clean, and healthy work environment by following established standards and procedures while complying with regulations, utilizes 5S principals and process criteria to meet the requirements of the position,

· Conducts inspections of equipment-tools operated daily to assure it is in a Safe and Operationally ready condition (Pre-Shift Inspections).
· Safely Operate and Maintain all assigned equipment.
· Be aware of and always operate within OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) standards, Company, and Department safety policies,
· Perform and/or check the Calibration of tools and equipment as specified,
· Label and Register Tires and Wheels into the Test Record and maintain organized, and accurate records-reports,
· Mount/Demount test tires on/off the appropriate wheels/apparatus as designated by the test instructions,
· Install Tire and Wheel assemblies onto passenger cars, light trucks, trailers, commercial vehicles, equipment, and/or any specialized apparatus as required by the test instructions,
· Inspect tires and vehicles before and after installation,
· Torque wheel lugs as specified,
· Perform tire rotations, balancing, and tire repairs as specified,
· Perform inventory of tires, wheels, vehicles, tools, and equipment,
· Scrap tires as required, perform periodic light maintenance/repairs of test vehicles/equipment,
· Perform preventative maintenance on designated equipment,
· Coordinate with the Department Manager to keep an inventory of common repair parts,
· With prior approval of Management and the completion of specific training, perform/assist (on a periodic basis) with the completion of test tire break-in or the performance of specialized tests,
· Conduct Training (as applicable) of various Team Members,
· Participate as a member of the Safety and/or Diversity Council on request or as applicable,
· Perform work-related duties as assigned and must be able to assist other Departments/ Teams with various assignments when required.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
· Individual must be able to read, write and communicate in the English Language to successfully work with applicable Job Work-Orders, test procedure, etc. as may be applicable,
· Must Possess a Valid Texas Driver License with a clean driving record.
· Must be a minimum of 21-years of age or older due to insurance requirements.
· Must Pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
· Must prove legal eligibility to work in the United States of America.
· Must meet work schedule requirements and be willing to work nights, weekends, and after-hour Emergency Calls when required,
· Must be willing and able to Transport Equipment, materials, etc. to various location both on and off the Facility-Property.
· Must have basic computer skills,
· Must be willing to acquire and maintain 5S, TIA or other Quality Certifications,
· Must be willing to be trained to operate a forklift (or possess a valid forklift operator certificate) as well as be trained to operate and become certified on other equipment as determined by the Department Lead(s)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· The physical ability and strength to be able to LIFT heavy items up to 50 Lbs. and/or maneuver up to 250 lbs.,
· Must have the ability to bend, squat, twist, kneel, and climb when required on a regular basis and be able to lift, push, and pull as required.
· Must be able to stand, walk or sit for prolonged periods of time,
· Must be able to repeatedly climb stairs and/or ladders throughout the day.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
· High School Diploma or equivalent is required (combinations of training and experience in applicable trades may be substituted),
· Experience in Tire service or mechanic or a similar role,
· The ability to Learn, Understand, and Demonstrate skills learned during training on a consistent basis.

Pay: $14.50 - $16.00 per hour
