Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

Autonodyne is a Boston-based software company working to provide additive autonomy to unmanned vehicles in land, sea, and air domains. Our technology stack applies mainly to the defense sector, but we view most of our work as dual use for commercial applications. We are a rapidly growing organization with over 50 people employed today. At Autonodyne we specialize in the command and control of autonomous vehicles. Our software suite sits at the nexus of Human-Machine Interface & Autonomy Behaviors. We are searching for an Information Systems Security Officer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate can effectively provide technical security support to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems, networks, and related hardware and software within the organization.

Responsibilities:

- Provide Security Oversight: Serve as the primary security point of contact for end-users, assisting with compliance and adherence to cybersecurity policies, and resolving security-related incidents efficiently.

- Implement and Monitor Security Controls: Configure and maintain security settings on operating systems, software applications, and hardware. Ensure that all security controls are functioning as intended on desktop and laptop computers.

- Conduct Vulnerability Assessments: Regularly review system configurations and permissions to identify potential vulnerabilities in desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals. Provide recommendations for mitigation.

- User Training and Awareness: Assist users with inquiries related to cybersecurity and provide training on security best practices, safe software usage, and other security tools as needed.

- Maintain and Update Security Posture: Perform regular security maintenance, including system patches, updates, backups, and audits. Ensure all systems meet organizational and regulatory security requirements.

- Incident Response and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of security incidents, solutions, and related hardware/software configurations. Document procedures, create security guides, and ensure compliance with incident response protocols.

- Assist with Network Security: Conduct network security monitoring and troubleshooting, including addressing connectivity issues, configuring network devices securely, and monitoring traffic for unauthorized activity.

- Enforce IT Security Policies: Implement and enforce IT security policies and best practices, including antivirus and endpoint security. Ensure antivirus software is up-to-date, conduct regular scans, and address identified risks promptly.

- Manage User Access and Authentication: Oversee the secure setup of new user accounts, email configurations, and system access. Conduct regular reviews of access permissions and promptly deactivate accounts for departing employees to maintain security integrity.

Minimums Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.

- Comp TIA Security CE or equivalent IAT Level II Certification

- Minimum of 4 years of experience as ISSO or other IT security related role.

- Proficient general information systems knowledge and application to include knowledge regarding secure configuration of different operating systems, networking equipment and cloud computing environments

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to think critically and resolve technical security problems efficiently.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive attitude and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement

- US Citizenship required.

- Ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's degree in Cybersecurity, computer science, or related field.

- Pentest , CEH, CISSP, or additional certifications beyond IAT Level II Certification

- Knowledge of scrum and agile software processes.

- Industry experience in the autonomy software and/or unmanned systems field.

- Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Travel:

This position will likely involve travel to customer and non-customer sites principally in North America (up to 20%), but global travel is also possible.

Other Criteria:

Strongly prefer domicile near the Boston/Cambridge metro area but will consider non-local domicile – relocation to Boston area part of compensation package, if necessary.

Security clearance (active or previous) or the ability to be granted one desired.

Salary Range: $80,000- $120,000 dependent on skillset, experience and certified qualifications.
