Classification: Exempt
Location: Petersboro, Utah
Travel: Less than 10% of the time
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reporting to: Project Manager
Positions supervised: N/A
JOB SUMMARY Solve challenging controls and localization problems using state-of-the-art techniques. Develop simulations to prove controls designs. Work with a team of engineers to implement and validate controls solutions on unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). Designs and develops software applications. Performs coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process. May provide consultation on complex projects. Reports to a manager. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Can work autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in solution or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop controls and localization algorithms for ground vehicles.
- Model mechanical and electrical systems to simulate derived controls solutions
- Aid in the testing and debugging of implemented controls solutions
- Document designs and analysis in company report format
- Synthesize controls solutions to problems of interest to the company
- Simulate mechanical, electrical, etc. systems to verify derived controls solutions
- Aid in the testing and debugging of implemented controls solutions
- Document important results in company report format
- Advise and assist GNC Engineers as needed
- Publish research in conference proceedings and journals
- Provides technical leadership in the controls area
- Assists in writing proposals that require controls solutions
- Patent novel controls methods
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOB SKILLS
- Requires a Masters or PhD degree of Engineering with emphasis in Controls and Localization
- 5-9 years of relevant industry experience
- Must be Proficient in:
- StateSpace Control
- Localization
- StateOfArt Controllers
- Writing Technical Papers.
- Must have Experience in:
- Designing Controls & Localization algorithms
- Writing Proposals
- Some mentorship opportunities/experience
- Python or C/C /
- MatLab
- Simulink
