What are the responsibilities and job description for the Backfill Trackhoe/Excavator Operator (Utility) position at Autry Grading, Inc.?

Autry Grading is looking for an experienced excavator operator to work hand in hand with laborers and foremen to complete projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

Must be committed to providing and promoting a safe work environment;
Communicate with the Foreman as to the daily job specifications;
Ability to follow directions;
Performs various skilled tasks with and without an excavator which are associated with underground utility operations. Primarily will be backfilling sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water utilities and ensuring proper compaction is obtained.
Uses various tools such as a shovel, rake, lute, broom, pick, hammer, saw, pneumatic hammer, drill, tamp and concrete saw;
Will operate an excavator, rubber tire backhoe, bulldozer, remote control trench roller, or vibratory roller as required;
Perform duties of the designated spotter of which training will be conducted; and
Ability to perform the essential job functions and perform other duties as assigned. We do not have to operate only positions, all employees are expected to do whatever work is required as a team to get the job done;

POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

The job requires the following motions : standing, walking, stretching, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching and squatting;

Requires regular lifting of or in excess of 25 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds;

Walking and standing may require a full day of 9 to 12 hours;

Will be exposed to sometimes extreme hot and cold temperatures; and

Jobs require riding to and from projects in various locations within our geographic region. If driving a company vehicle, company policies on drivers must be met;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

1 years of experience operating a track hoe / excavator and a minimum of 1 year operating around underground utilities;

Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check;

Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document;

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times;

Report to work at the designated start time;

Be able to work long hours when required;

Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook;

Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required;

Be at least age 18 years of age.

Prefer a valid NC Driver's License.
